Boston Arm Lift Surgery
When loose skin starts to sag in your upper arms, are there options to tighten this area? Dr. Del Vecchio sees many patients who have excessive skin in their upper arms “bat wings” from aging or excessive weight loss and often times, will recommend an arm lift (or brachioplasty) to remedy the problem. The armlift in Boston can dramatically reduce the appearance of hanging skin. But bear in mind, it does produce a permanent scar, depending on the extent of the original problem and the surgery required to correct it.
Dr. Del Vecchio believes that in Boston, arm lift patients who have the best results have realistic expectations of what can be accomplished and are in good health. Armlift surgery is particularly helpful to people who have undergone massive weight loss after gastric bypass surgery or loss of skin elasticity in older patients. If you are anticipate a significant loss of weight in the future, it is probably best to postpone your arm lift consultation until you have achieved your goal weight to achieve optimal results.
At your consultation, Dr. Del Vecchio will seek to understand what you want to accomplish from your Boston arm lift surgery. Make sure to be candid about your expectations and medical history as this will help Dr. Del Vecchio conduct his evaluation. Based on your discussions and his examination, Dr. Del Vecchio can then determine if the armlift is right for you. Depending on your situation, Dr. Del Vecchio may suggest liposuction be used alone or in conjunction with an arm lift to remove excess fat in the upper arms. Prior to your evaluation, review the Boston Arm Lift Before and After Photos to see prior patients and results achieved. If you see results which compare to what you hope to achieve, bring a picture to your consultation.
The brachioplasty procedure generally takes two to three hours to complete and is done on an outpatient basis. Dr. Del Vecchio has surgical privileges at many locations in the Boston area for your convenience. These can be covered with you during your consultation.
